Edison production of an unhackneyed character, section is also especially good. Owing to tlio theatre fieing otherwise engaged to-morrow, the programme will be screened to-night and Wednesday only. THEATRE ROYnAL. To-night's change of programme at the iheatre Royal is a well diversified one, including dramas, scenics and comedies. "Sports in Merry England" l-eatnring the latest happenings in sporting circles, is said to'be a splendid picture. The "star" item of the programme is a thrilling Vitagraph drama, "Iho Intruder." with the- popular actor Maurice Costello in the leading role. "Iho Speed Kings" is described a s a Keystone "yell." "Acrobatic Feats ir-, tlio Open Air" and the "Pa the Gazette, No. 215" comprise a -splendid selection of films which should meet with general approval. WAIKAIA BAND OF HOPE. The monthly meeting of the Waikaia Land ol Hope was held ill the Sunday School Hall 011 the evening of July C (writes a correspondent). Ayson and Effie Milne; song, "He Wipes the Tear,",Mr J. Robertson (Invercargdl): solo, "The Litrle Lamb," -Miss E. Melvor; "song, "The Holy C.ty," Mr Ja.s. Sproat; song, "Maytime," children; recitation, "Little Jim," Miss M. Bruce; recitation, "Redeeming the Time," Miss lOffie Milne; solo, "The Broken Heart," Mr G. Robertson; recitation, "Do You?" Master Jos. Cooper; action song, "The Snow Song," children; recitation, MasterJas. Milne; humorous readings, Mr J. T. MacKe.nzie, Miss E. Sterling and Mrs J. McDonald. Rev. W. Hain gave ail address, on the temperance question. Mr D. McNarev iiroposed a- hearty vote olf thanks to oil the performers, 'which was carried by acclamation. Mrs Hain officiated at the organ and played the accompaniments. The singing of the National Anthem and the pronouncing oi the Benediction by tlio chairman brought a very pleasant and successful gathering to a close.
