enhanced by the appropriate music supplied by the Gore Brass Band, was the subject of much favorable comment, lhe vocal solo provided for the picture of "The Beggar Maid" by Mr L. Wi.son was excellently rendered and the pipe music in the amusing Scottish comedy "Playing the Pipes" was ably given by Pipe-Major Hoffman. The programme will be finally screened' this evening. , THEATRE ROYAL. The merit of the picture programme to bo screened for the last time this evening at the Theatre lioyal shou'd attract a large attendance. A feature of the films is a Lubin drama, "The Sea Eternal," which is one,of ibis popular firing best productions; while "Van 1 Nostrand'e Tiara," a. striking d<:eL'tive drama; "Proveeal Bullfight," a stirring picture; the "Topical Budget," an entertainment in itself; and clever comedies combine to make an unufeual'y attractive series'. ERNEST DRAKE CONCERT. The box plan in connection with the Ernest Drake concert in the Princess Theatre next Tuesday was opened to the public yesterday morning and judging by the booking at Boyne Bros.' and the demand for day Kale tickets the Gore people are going' to attend well. Mr Ernest Drake is set down to give quite a. number of items, among which appear such "favoritee as "I Will Await, Thee" (Coningsby Clarke), "Invictus" (Huhn), "Lend Me Your Aid" (from Gounod's "Queen of Sheba"), and Blumenthal's exquisite "Evening •Song." He is also to. sing with Miss Mabelle Esqiuiant Newton's , charming duet, "In the Springtime," and with ! Mass Mary . Mitchell, L.A.8., Luncantoni's "A Night in Venice." Scanning the fine programme wlr'ch has been circulated through the town it is evident chat the artistic side will leave notning to be desired. One special feature :s the musical sketches of the clever child art st, Miss Irene Heywood, whose charming actions and beautiful 1 interpretations captivate her audience. 1 M;ss Mabolle Esquilant, who :is acknowledged ..to be the finest contralto in the Dominion, will sing a couple of irems, and so wifl Miss Mary Mitchell. Mr E. Hey wood, Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, London, under whoso direction the concert will be given, will be the solo pianist and accompanist. On account of the length of the programme patrons are requested to bo seated punctually at eight o'clock. PIONEER FOOTBALL SOCIAL. The Pioneer Football Club held its annual ball in the Theatre Royal last night, and although a larger attendance was anticipated l , yet an enjoyable evening was spent by those present. Special attention had been given to the floor and excellent music was supplied by Carmody's orchestra. Messrs D. Tinand S. McDougall were efficient ■M.C. s, and tho catering was in the capable hands of Mr Jaa. Hoffmatv. The secretarial duties were capably fulfilled by Mr S. J. O'Sullivan, assisted by Mr D. McDougall, jun.
