Tho fanner and' the singer conversed with each other in a friendly way in the kitchen over a drink while the ear was being repaired. Then the "hayseed" inquired discreetly the name of his guest. "When Caruso modestly replied with bis name the farmer raised bis hand and cried, "C'ruso! Robinson C'ruso, the. famous traveller! Ah, J am indeed honored to have you in my kitchen." Caruso hud not the heart to disillusion him.
