In, view of the recent High Court ruling that a seaman injured outside the. three-mile limit of the Australian const is unable to claim compensation j under the Commonwealth law, fljie Seamen's Union drafted a new clause for inclusion in the articles entitling injured seamen to claim compensation wherever an accident may happen. This clause was included in the articles signed by the crow of the .Niagara. The Seamen's Federation has demanded its inclusion in tlio articles of all ships trading to America and NewZealand. STRIKES ARE BARBAROUS. Received. Julv 1, 10.-lO a.m SYDNKY, July l. Hon. W. A. Holman (Premier)'stated that special strikes were barbarous and wasteful. The workers would have to make up their .minds whether they would have arbitration or strikes. They were unable to have both, but the Government would not force arbitration upon those- who were unwilling to share in its benefits. MAITLAND COAL TROUBLE. SYDNKY, June 30. The Australian Unions' Federation is intervening with a view to the settlement of the Maitland coal trouble.
