In regard to the thunderstorm and torrential downpour of rain lasting for 2i hours, several serious subsidencese occurring, with loss of life, four bodies were recovered from the Place do St. Augustine. Lightning struck a suburban church, killing four and injuring several. The opinion has been expressed that the subsidence was due to over-conges-tion of tram traffic.

20 FATALITIES REPORTED. Received June 17, 10.25 a.m. PARIS, June 16. Twenty fatalities are reported. Two inches of rain fell in 35 minutes. A hole 60ft by 10ft suddenly appeared under the tramway at Porte Gligancourt to-day.
