BACK TO BEAUTY.
EFFECT OF RIDICULE. BY BLECTBIC TELEGRAPH COPYBIGni'. TIMES AND SYDNEY SUN SEBVICES. Received March 25, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, March 24, The Paris correspondent of 'The Times' states, "The skirt which is slit too high and the he-dice cut too low, with excessive tightness of draperies near the ankles have all passed seeing that now there are modifications and a gradual return to flowing draperies. The ridicule of the caricaturists rather than the admonitions of preachers is bringing women hack to the patfas of beauty. Propriety, neatness and per. fection of detail are the latest essentials." SPRING FASHION SECRET.
Though the secret of the Paris spring fashions is jealously guarded until February 15 each year, I learn that looseness, ease, even "sloppiness," will characterise the new models (stated the Paris correspondent of* 'The Daily Mail' on February 9). The first and lowest skirt will still be narrow, but it will be surrounded by deep flounces which will give the impression of looseness and which will almost produce the effect of a email crinoline.i
There will be a high but very open collar, and the bodice will be cut loosely and easily, often in soft silk. The sleeves will be short for day wear. Evening dresses will have no sleeves. The popularity of a marked decolletage for both day and evening wear will continue, if not increase.
The hat fori the coming season is a tiny little toque set well forward on the forehead after the fashion of the 'eighties.
