PRINCE AND ACTRESS.

» The marriage of a prince with a music-hall performer was on December 2 the basis of a remarkable action ; n the Paris courts. ; Prince Auguste of Broglie-Revel married in 1912 Mile. JaneThylda, a musichall artist. His brother, Prince Henri of Broglie-Revel, and his uncle, Count Robert of Clormont-Tonnerre, the wellknown hportsman, were, it appears, noyed by the marriage and the family broke off all relations with Prince Auguste and his bride. The uncle and brother demanded that the remains of tJountess ISosthene of demont-Ton-nerre and of Princess Henri of BroglieRevel should be removed from the private chapel of the Castle of Loroy, where Prince Auguste and his wife live, and reinterred in the family vault in the cemetery of Pere la Chaise in Paris. A few days before the marriage Prince Auguste wrote to his uncle announcing that lie proposed, in order "to regularise his position," to marry "a friend who for 11 years has given me many proofs of her dovotion and of her very sincere attachment."

The uncle received the letter witn indignation. In reply, he wrote: "Respect for yourself, your family, and your position, and fear of ridicule are opposed to such an unworthy act. One cannot regularise what is culpable. If you are weak, leave this person, -who, after taking your time and your money, brings you into disrepute and puts you outside the pale of society." The demand of the two plaintiffs that the remains should be removed was rejected by the court, and they were ordered to pay the costs of the action.
