A Wellington -message states that an event of considerable social interest has been announced im the engagement of Mrs T. G. Macarthy to Mr Walter Reid. Mrs Macarthy is the widow of 'the late Mr T. G. Macarthy. who made such a magnificent bequest to Wellington province last year. The marriage takes place at an early date. Air the last meeting of the committee of the Riverton Regatta Club it was resolved that a letter of condolence be forwarded to Mrs Carroll, of Mandeville, in her sad bereavement. During the late Mr Carroll's residence at Riverton he had tatken a great interest in aquatic events, and was an active worker on the Regatta Committee. The motion was carried in silence, all members standing.
