TAPANUI ANGLERS' ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Tapamii Anglers' and Deer Stalkers' Association was held in the Central Hall on Saturday evening (writes our correspondent), Mr J. Howat (president) presiding. The annual report stated that owing to a succession of floods the streams were rendered unfishablo during the greater part of the season, but the fish taken were on the whole in very good condition and gave capital sport. Two competitions were held during the season, the entries for each being very good. For the gold medal there were 12 competitors, Mr 0. Drummond being the winner. The amateur competition was won by Mr F. Lischner. 'During the year a large number of fry were liberated, and the indications for the present season were very encouraging. The ■ balance-sheet showed receipts amounting to £33 19s 8d and expenditure £3l 6s 7d. which left a debit balance of 6s lid. The chairman in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet stated that this was the first time since the association was formed thai there had been a debit balance, which he accounted for in work having oeen done which in bis opinion was totally unnecessary. The motion for the adoption of the report and balance-sheet was seconded by Mr R. A. Rodger and carried. Hie election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr J. W. Nicholson; vice-president, Messrs F. Lischner and G. Edie: secretary and treasurer, Mr Grigor Grant; auditor, Mr J. J. Periy. Mr J. Howat was added to the committee', and Mr K. McKenzie replaced Mr E. D. MoKenzie. Mr G. Howat moved and Mr R. A. Rodgers seconded, "That a shooting match for deer-stalkers and fishing competitions be arranged, the prizes to be £2 2s and £4 4s respectively." The matter was left in the hands of the committee. , It was resolved, "That the secretary! write to the Otago Acclimatisation Society recommending that a ranger be appointed." A motion was carried placing on record the valuable work done by the secretary and president. The usual vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting to a close.
