In a speech at Wakkerstroom General Botha (Prime Minister) said that he did not believe in ruling the natives with a siambok. The natives had no direct representation, in Parliament, and, ae far as he was concerned, they never ■would •, therefore it 'behoved the whites to treat them with justice, fairness and honesty of purpose. He announced the forthcoming reduction of £SOO per annum in each Minister's salary. The meeting condemned Mr iiertßog s attitude.
