The remains of the late Sir William Russell were interred yesterdav afternoon in the Napier Cemetery, the funeral being very largely attended. Among those present were Hon. H. D. Bell, representing the Ministry, and Captain SJiaw, military A.D.C., representing tho Governor. An impressive funeral service was held at tho cathedral. Sir Francis Price, who is married to a. daughter of Sir Win. Russell, arrived in Wellington yesterday from Australia and left to attend the funeral.
Mr Harold Capstick, junior cxchango clerk in the local branch of the telephone exchange, and son of Mr It. Gapstick, on the. local staff of the Telegraph. Department, has received notice of his promotion to tho Wellington Telephone Exchango. Mr Capstick, who will leave to take up bis new duties about tho middle of .next week, has been connected with tho local office for tho past three years, and has always proved himself a popular and obliging official.
