MASCULINE FROCKS.
) 1 Several striking dresses were seen at J the race meeting at Auteuil to-day (writes tb© Paris correspondent of the 'Daily Mail'). Some of the creations I saw were distinctly masculine in cut and fashion. One tailor-made skirt was in shepherd's tartan of a brown tint, magnificently set off with a long, loose-cut black jacket. A small, dark hat, resembling the hard, felt hats worn by men, with a lancer plume, was worn ■ with the costume. Few of the dresses presented the slit up the side which at the beginning } of the season threatened to be common. " Though the skirts are still tight at the > ankle,_ the necessary freedom of move- * ment is now assured by a skilful drag- * ing from the hip. Saxe blue seemed a 5 very favorite color and one particularly * fascinating costume comprised a khaki- * colored skirt and a blue satin jacket tightly held by_ a dark blue patentleather belt with an elaborate gold buckle. One mannequin wore a grass-green costume with a slit up the side reveal--5 ing the leg to the knee. The revers and . cuffs and the hem of the skirt were I picked out with violet embroidery. She - wore a small satin turban with the t feather erect at the back.
