Received May 14, 10.0 a.nr.i> I Sydney, May 14. f Mr Milward (manager or the Pacific Cable Board) commenting on Canada's jpecently announced contract with the • Poulsen Wireless Company, foreshadowed a reduction in the cost of coded jcables to v London from 3s to 2s Bd, laying a word, though he had no information from the London office on tie matter. If the wireless system proved efficient and a benefit to the public the Pacific Cable Company would certainly make an arrangement with the Poiilseri Company to carry its messages to Australia. Whatever reduction in rates could be obtained would be passed on to the -public. At the 9ame time he looked upon wireless communication across the Atlantic as in a somewfhat nebulous state. Something ■tronld have to be done to make .the system more reliable than at present be- : be generally used for comcy and ]}res» purpbses. AUSTRALIA'S CHAIN. Beoeived May 14, 8.50'*.m.
