MURDER OF MRS LLOyD. 8Y ELEOTBIO TBLBGBAPH. —OOPYRIOHT. PER CNITEB IRESS ASSOCIATION. SYDNEY, April 23. Lindsay has been sentenced to death for murdering Mrs Lloyd at Copmanhursrt on January 13.

A shocking crime was committed at Punchbowl, near Gopmanhurst, early on Sunday morning, January 12. Mrs Lloyd, wife of Mr J. Lloyd, farmer, | was shot when she was going to the milking yard. The deceased was a native of Copmanhurst and was a highlyrespected resident of the district. Two shots .were heard in succession by a neighbor and an ox-State boy named Lindsay was arrested on suspicion. At the inquest the evidence showed that the deceased, Mrs Lloyd, was at her residence on Saturday night. The only other occunant of the house was Leslie Lindsay, 19 years of age, formerly a State apprentice, arid an adopted boy, nine years of age, named Harry Smith. Mr J. Lloyd, the husband, was away that night. During the night Smith stated he heard a row and Mrs Lloyd, screaming. On her calling him he entered her room and found Leslie Lindsay behind him. She was "rousing" on Lindsay, and the latter and Smith then left the room, the woman locking the door. In the morning the boy Smith got up, leaving Lindsay ask'ep. and went bo the yard to prepare for the milking He saw Mrs Lloyd coming out of the house, followed by Lindsay, who had a gun in his hand. Lindsay then shot the woman, afterwards going to a neighbor's place a quarter of a mile distant. Later he was arrested. The victim was shot in the back by two charges of <No. 3 shot, the first striking her low down and the other between the shoulders, completely lacerating the heart and lungs. The coroner returned a verdict of wilful murder, and the accused was committed to stand his trial at the next Circuit Court at Grafton, on April 22.
