The Daily MaiF has been fined £IOO for contempt in hinting at a motive in the Baxter shooting case. A London Cable of April 16 stated:— Jeannio Baxter, a fashionably-dressed young widow, shot Bernard Hall, the well-known boxer and aeroplanist, dead in his flat in Shaftesbury Avenue. Baxter had been Hall's mistress. Yesterday he made his will in Baxter's favor. Baxter states that Hall asked her to shoot him. VERDICT FOR DEFENDANTS. Received April 24, 9.40 a.m. LONDON, April 23. In the case in which Miss Hageby, the well-known anti-vivisectionist, sued Dr C. W. Saleeby, the noted eugenist, and the 'Pall Mall Gazette' for libel, alleging that they accused her of conducting a campaign of falsehood. Miss Hageby conducting her own case, a verdict was given for defendants. THE MARCONI INQUIRY.
