In regard to the action in which John Roberts claimed £2307 damages from George Gray, the billiardist, in connection with the successful suit in which Roberts gained judgment against Gray in England for breach, of'agreement, judgment was given for plaintiff. Leave to appeal was granted. EMPIRE TRADE COMMISSION, Received April 24, 8.30 a.m. SYDNEY, April 24. The Empire Trade Commission has concluded its sittings in. Sydney. Hon. J. L. Trefle (Minister for Agriculture) gave evidence to the effect that the State Savings Bank provided £1,000,000 per annnm for settlement purposes and had already received application for £1.200,000. Ho was confident that he could place £3.000,000 in the current year in assisting bona-fide settlers. The banks were very tight, and people were not met in any shape or form to the extent they should bd for the developmentTof the country. The president of the Harbor Trust outlined the proposals for harbor improvements providing 42.000 ft. wharf frontage, to cost £6,500,000. It would take a decade to complete the work at ,the present rate of procedure, and the development would be fully warranted by that time.
