AWARDED £12,515,000.
NATIONAL TELEPHONE ©O, BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. COPYRIGHT. PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATIONLONDON, Jan. 13. The National Telephone Company has been awarded £12,515,000. In arriving at the amount Mr Justice Lawrence, who tried the action, first ascertained the cost of construction and of the plant, and then deducted .an amount for depreciation. The Telephone Company's stock lias fallen from £*l3o to £lO9.
The National Telephone Company claimed nearly £21,000,000 against the Government in connection with the acquirement by the Postmaster-General on behalf of the nation of the company's undertaking commenced in June. The Postmaster-General by the agreement 1905 had to buy, and the company to sell, all plant, land, fbuildings. etc., which were in use or in process of being brought into use for the purposes of the company's business by December 31, 1911.
