DROUGHT-STRICKEN.

♦ | STARRING STOCK IX AUSTRALIA. Trainloads of starving stock are arriving almost every day from droughtstricken areas (states the Singleton correspondent of the 'Daily Mail'). This district is becoming heavily stocked, but there is an abundance of feed, especially on the eastern parts, where grass is two and three feet high. Graziers and owners of paddocks are receiving big fees for agistment. Unfortunately many of the cattle are so emaciated upon arrival that they fall and die upon removal from the trucks. About 400 head of store cattle arrived recently from Cowra. The majority were in a pitiable condition, and 2G head Hied this afternoon.
