Speaking at a farewell social at Ashburton on. Wednesday evening, the Rev.-J. Dawson (secretary of the New Zealand Alliance) said that he did not know of any electorate in the Dominion where the voters were so strong on water as they were in Ashburton. They liked it so well that just before the election they camped in large numbers on the riverbed. He had been given to understand, however, that as soon as the election was over they left tfy the first train. In the Ashburton electorate at the last poll there was a majority of 191 votes cast against national prohibition. They would like to , know where that majority came from, and perhaps there would be something interesting to say on the matter later.
