In the Stead case judgment was en, tered for defendant because the bill in question was an accommodation bill. In the King's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice, Mr W. T. Stead, editor of the 'Review of Reviews,' sued to recover £llOO sterling, which he advanced to a tradesman on a bill transaction to oblige the Princess Wiasemsky. Mr Stead made the Princess' acquaintance through the Dowager Empress of Russia, at the Hague Conference, and the transaction arose through the renting of a house at Dulwich. JMr Stead already has a judgment for £7OO against the Princess. He held' security in connection with the present advance, but returned it to oblige her.
