SOCIAL AT BRYDONE. Some 80 residents of Brydone and the surrounding district assembled on Monday evening at the residence of Mr Doogul (who has lately acquired tho farm of Mr Craig) for the purpose of welcoming him and his family to the district. Mr L. Cooney, on behalf of the company, offered Mr and Mrs Doogul and family "oead mille failthe," which he explained meant a hundred thousand welcomes, and hoped they would be very prosperous in their new home. Messrs Stewart, Turnbull and Drysdale also spoke, endorsing t he previous speaker's remarks and all joined in singing "For They are Jolly Good Fellows." An exceedingly pleasant evening was spent in dancing, song and story. During the evening Mr Doogul, who was in splendid voice, sang "My Wandering Boy," and was well applauded. At a suitable interval the ladies dispensed supper. Dancing continued till early morning, excellent music being supplied by Mr D. McDonald, while Mr Cooney made an efficient M.C. The gathering terminated with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne," three hearty cheers being given for Mr and Mrs Doogul and family.
