LIBERALS IN CONFERENCE. PER, UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 28. Sir Joseph Ward met the South Island members of the Liberal Party here this morning. Those present were Sir Arthur Guinness, Messrs Ell, Isitt, Davey, Russell, Laurenson, Witty, Dickie, Buxton, Craigio, Seddon, MoCallum, Colvin, Forbes, Hanan, Thomson and Sidey. The conference lasted two hours. At the conclusion Sir Joseph Ward said the meeting was a private one and there would be no communication to make to the press. Sir Joseph Ward will return to Wellington to-night.
