Taxi-cab drivers to the number o 3000 have struck out of sympathy for i comrade who was not allowed to tak out cabs on the ground that he ha< been withholding from the proprieto extras received in respect of two boxes The allegation is denied. Received November 3, 9.10 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 2. There are 6600 taxi-cabs idle as th< result of a dispute over 3d for extrai retained by one driver. AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING STRIKE. Received November 3. 10.45 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 3. The Wharf Laborers' Union has eallec a mass meeting for Saturday to considei the situation. At Wednesday's meetinf a resolution was carried suggesting thai all the workers affected by the strike should join, but it is not considered likely that they will do so. They will probably maintain their attitude and work as long as they are not called on to do strikers' duty. The Labor Council discussed tht situation, condemned the strike and supported Mr McGowen's (Premier) action. NO JURISDICTION. Received November 3 10.45 a.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 3. In reply to questions in the House of Representatives Mr Hughes (Attor-ney-General) stated that the president of the Arbitration Court held the opinion that he had no jurisdiction in the strike. TRAMWAY MEN OUT. Received November 3, 10.45 a.m. FREMANTLE, Nov. 3. The tramway men struck at midnight owing to the suspension for half a day of six of their fellow-workers.
