Mrs Coventry has been committed for / trial. r At an inquest as to the cause of death of Gilks, a farm laborer, on a charge of murdering whom the wife of Captain . Coventry, late of the 17th Lancers, is under arrest, the medical evidence showed that the man's death was due to a blow. The jury gave a verdict to that' effect, adding that there was not suffi- . ~ cient evidence to show by whom the Jblow had been struck. Mrs Coventry, ' t in- whose employ a daughter of Gilks' had formerly been, was remanded. THE STEEL TRUST FIGHT. Ntf NEW YORK, Oct. 3) Wall Street has not recovered from the slump 'in United States steel. More confidence, however, is being shown in other stocks, Canadian-Pacific shares leading. United States Steel Corporation shares fell eight points, causing a panic in the stock market, in the early moments of which trading reached enor- ; moils proportions. ARMING THE POLICE. LONDON, Oct. 31. The metropolitan police authorities have ordered 2000 Webley revolvers for selected men. Night Coughing Spells.
