PER WTTEI) PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Oct. 31. In a claim for compensation brought by T. Coverdale against the City Council for £2520 on account of the compulsory acquisition of a piece of land for street widening purposes the Chief Justice pointed out that the value placed on, the land by the claimant worked out at the rate of £196,000 per acre. In his. opinion people ■whose property was increased in value by street widening jshould bear a portion of the,costs. The case is proceeding.
