Empire League dinner Sir Joseph Carruthers (an ex-Premier) referred to Cardinal Moran's attitude in regard to Empire Day. He said that England, Iraland, Scotland and Australia each had their special days which they celebrated, and it would be a good idea to have a day which all parts of the Empire would celebrate together. The cardinal should remember that priests who wero persecuted in foreign countries had always found security under the British flag. NEW SOUTH WALES POLITICS. Received May 26, 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, May 26. The. Legislative Assembly had an allnight sitting on the censure debate. In the State Assembly Hon. C. O. Wade, ex-Premier, the other day tabled a censure motion on the Government's proposal for the repeal of the Conversion Act. Mr Wade said lie condemned the proposal in the interests of those who had been led to expect that they would be able to convert their holdings into freehold.
