STEVENSON'S PICTURES. Another very fine programme if Jiring pictures is announced for to-night in the. Dominion Hall, embracing • choice selection of scenery, drama and comedy. Th«. eeretaiuty with which patrons may rely on the superior merit* of the entertainment provided by the Stevenson management is now almost universally recognised.

MATAL'KA KILTIES BAND. The entertainment given by the proprietary of Stevenson's Pictures ia the Horticultural Hall, Mataura, last night in aid of the uniform fund of the Matauia Kilties Band drew a record house, the commodious building being packed. The uniforms, which are of the Cameron Erracht tartan with tiie Glengarry caps, cost close on £7OO, are very handsome and were much admired. Previous to the entertainment the band, h?aded by Drum-Major Aitkeu and followed by twelve pipers and three drummers, played through the streets. The Brass Band also assisted, and played several selections outside the hall.

The entertainment opened with • good rendering of "The Earl of Uansfaeld" by the Pipe Band, end later ea they gave "Cam-u-on and Awa." Tbn picture* were quite up to the usual excellent standard uf filau presented by Mr Stevenson. "Palermo and tte Monuments" showed home beautiful sculpture, while the dramatic film* were especially interesting. Humorous pictures were not forgotten, keeping the audience highly pleased throughout. Pipe-Major Cameron and Piper Cameron contributed strathspey* and marches during the entertainment. At the interval the president of too band (Mr A. Balnea ves) thanked the audience for their support and stated that the debt on the uniforms wonld be greatly reduced as a result. A word of praiae is due to Pipe-Major Cameron, who has instructed nearly nil the rest of the members of the band in manipulating the pipes, and the manner in which they acquitted themselves last night did membera and instructor credit. A danco was afterwards held the music being supplied by Miss Mc&owan (piano) and Mr J. Wellman (riolin). assisted by Pipe-Major and Piper Cameron. The gross proceeds should amount to close on £4O, so that them nhntdd be a good surplus.
