BOWLING.

HOKONUI (155) v. YvYNDTIAM (87). The return match between the Hokonui and Wvndham Bowling Clubs took place at Wyndhain yesterday. The weather was fine, although the ground was somewhat heavy, being in places somewhat rough owing to the constant wear of the season. A very enjoyable game resulted, and although the visitors had a margin of (:8 points several of the home players had not the best oi luck. A little more experience in rink games will make a big difference in their style of play. Each club placed live full rinks on the green and one rink of pairs, thus giving all the bowlers present a game. The most even game was that between Ross ("Wyndhain) and Weir (Hokonui), the latter failing by one point. Tutty, on the other hand, took possession of the mat on the thirteenth head and put on 18 points while his opponent only scored one. Martin's rink scored on 14 heads and their opponents on seven. Brass and Johnston were 15 all at the eighteenth head, but on the next three, heads the Hokonui man put on seven points. Had not Davidson got a four on the last head his_ defeat at the hands of McDowell would have been more pronounced. The Hokonui men, however, gained a five-point win on the ninth head. Graham and Day in the pairs match easily beat Smith and Adams. During the afternoon the ladies dispensed afternoon tea, and at the conclusion of the game hearty cheers were given for the respective clubs and the ladies. The following are the scores:— H. W. Buchanan, Gault, Watson, Tutty (s) 32 - Williams, Hislop, Murphy, Golding (s) 12 Robson, Henderson, Marris, Martin (s) 29 Aitken, Porter, Watson., McKerrow (s) Rose, Porter, Rose, Rhodes, Mac Gibbon, McDowell (s) 25 Duffy, Wilson, Hunter, Davidson (s) _ 15 Wilkins, Reid, Allchurch, Brass (s) 22 Drummond, Irving, Walker, Johnston (s) Harraway, Wylie, Paterson, Weir (s) 18 Nutsford, McCall, Crosbie, | Ross (s) Day and Graham (s) 29 Smith and Adams (s) Totals 155 87
