SALE OF EDUCATION LEASES.

INCREASED RENTS. At Invercargill yesterday Messrs W. Todd and Co. offered for sale, on behalf of the School Commissioners of Otago, a number of runs in the Southland district, the leases of which are about to expire. Of the seven areas disposed of in four cases substantial increases of rent were obtained, as will be seen by the figures below. Great interest was shown in the sale by pastoral and commercial classes, and about sixty were present. Competition was keen for the four runs referred to, and the advances iii bidding taken by the auctioneer could not be less than £lO. The sale was {rot through in good time.
