A pleasant function took place at the East (Jore School on Thiiisday aftornoon when the pupils oi Standard VI., on the eve <u' leaving the school, presented Mr W. Oilchrist (hfiidinaster) with a token ol their esteem and respect. On behalf of the gills of the class. Miss Jessie Campbell pre-eiited Mr Gilchrist with two well-bound volumes, while Master Arthur Mclv,.;:;i on behalf of the boys presented him with an umbrella. Both pupils < onvey. d to their teacher the best wishes an<; goodwill of the elass. Mr Gilchrist feelingly thanked the children for their gifts. On the same afternoon Miss Kennedy was the recipient of a dainty brooch from the girls of Standaid IV. who are leaving her room. In making the presentation Miss Ettie McDowell thanked Miss Kennedy for tht interest she had taken in them, and coir.eyed to her the good wishes of the gols.
