SUDDEN DEATH.

A sudden death occurred in Gore this morning. It r.pptars that a man named William Leah Ross, accountant, who kept bo:.ks for several small firms, had been ailing for some time past. Last week he spent a few days at the Bluff, and returned to his lodgings at Miss Cowan's boardinghouse <>n Friday. On Saturday lie appeared to be in his usual state of health, hut on Sunday afternoon complained of feeling weak and languid. Dr. 13rugh, who had been attending Ross for some tine, prescribed for him and at 11.30 p.hi. again visited him and assisted to put him to bed. At half-past one o'clock tin's morning Mr A unison (manager at tinhouse) visited Ross, who was then sleeping soundly. At seven this.morning Mr Annison on visiting the room found Ross dead.

The police were notified of tlie occurrence, and Dr. Rrugh being prepared to give a certificate as to the cause of death, no inquest will he held.

Tha deceased arrived in ('ore from Dunedin last November and lias been casually employed here <-ince. He was the youngest son of the late Mr Leith Ross, of Arnage Castle. Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and brother of Colonel Ross. of the same-place. Ross was about 4(i years of age, and was in receipt of remittances from his relatives.
