BOARD AND DEPARTMENT. PEE UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, March 18. I lie Otago Education Board at yesterday's meeting considered the action ol the Department in attempting to reduce the staff of some of the schools in terms of the Order-in-Council dated December last. The Otago Board has been advised that this order is ultra vires, the Minister, having no power to ca.eulate the attendance except under the Act and under table A of the Order-in-Council. 1 lie Board intend to state a test case m the Supreme Court- if necessary.
