BOWLING. DIXKDIX TOUBXAMEXT. END OF SECTION PLAY. CJOBE DEFEATED IX TIE. rot CMTED PKISS ASSOCIATION. DI'XEDIX, Jan. 1?. Tho NV» Zealand Bowling Association's annual tourney was continued to-day. Light rain tell pretty well all the morning, and a drizzle prevailed •Met of the afternoon, the result being that most of the greens were somewhat heavy and dead. Two games necessary to complete the sectional contests were played, and then sectional ties were derided. It was hoped that games would he saaVirnlly far advanced to admit of green winners being reached, but owing to the large number of sectional luns to be derided this was not possible ■n all case*. In the hfth round of Sectmn A. on the Kaituna grrcu Taieri (Cartwellt had a big lrfruggle to defeat IV Bangi iMrllulruium). The former lagged behind until the l**tb end, but then srored 3 and 4, which gave them the TH-tory. In Section U. there were c'oar tie*, whtrb protracted play ronuderably. In the second round "of ties Canterbury (Saxton) and St. Albans had a very ereu game till the 14th head, when the scores were 13 all. Saxton km 6 on the 15th bead, and kept the lead till the finish. The contest between farewell and Saxton for grwun winner will probably be decided on Friday. In the game between McLaren and MrCaUao on the Mornmgton green, the latter led in the early stages, but McLaren pulled up towards the finish, and at the 21st end the scores were lerel. An extra head was played and McLaren won by one point. The game between Hain and U'edderspoon was very interesting and more closely contested than the scores indicate. The most remarkable game on the Kosryn green was in the fourth round, when Danedin (Bentlev) met St. Clair (Marphenon). At the 16th bead the latter were 9 down, but Dunedin were playing a little carelessly, awl Macpherson srored 9, making the rinks level, with one head to go. On this head St. Clair srored one and serared the victory. In the fifth round a tongh contest was fought between North-east Valley and Caversfaam. The former commenced the last end 5 down, bat the Valley ship rut out the shot bowl with his but shot and srored 6, winning by one. In playing off the sectional tie Bentler led Begg bv 19 to 10 at the 16th head, but the next two ends gave the latter 5 and 4, equalising the scores. Bemaining ends gave Xorth-east Valley the advantage, and they won the section.
