FIRES IN THE NORTH.
I MAN BURNED TO DEATH. PEE UNITED FBEBS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. A man named James O'Kecfe has been burned to death in a wharc at Kumou. A man who suw tho whare ablaze tried to forco the door open, but failed. The place was completely demolished, O'Keefe's remains boing subsequently found.
BLAZE AT ASHBURTON. ASHBURTON. Aug. 13. The wooden premises occupied by Manchester and Co., plumbers, and Miss Mcßae, dressmaker, together with the stock and plant contained therein weio totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The cause of the firo is unknown. Mr Manchester is absent from town and the insurances are not available.
