Tlio local Technical School C'omniittoo met the other evening and, haviug voted their secretary a Ijouus of ton guinea'., completed their work for the 180S session and were prepared to go out of office when they were waited upon by a deputation from the High School Hoard ot Governors consisting of Mr (i. J. Anderson, M.P., Bev. G. lleivey, and Mr K. li. Bowler with a view to getting the old committee to continue the classes as formerly. Tho committee very willingly agreed to (lie projxisal. 3lr Anderson resigned his position owing to pressure of Parliamentary duties and Mr E. H. Bowler wus elected in his stoad. Tho name of the nowly-apiwinted rector of the High School (Mr Hunter) was also associated with tho committee, and Mr AY. Geo was re-elected secretary. The new cominilteo then met and arranged everything necessary for the running of tfie '•lasses for the ensuing terms. As will ho seen from an advertisement in this issue, applications are invited from persons competent, to teach in the various classes proposed to bo carried on, and enrolments will ho accepted by .Uessrs A. It. AVatson, Hoyno liros., J. I). Forbes, and the secretary, from whom all particulars can lie obtained. Fr™ students this year will not. find their work quite so tiring, as whilo it is still compulsory for tliem to take I.Cuglisli and arithmetic, the two classes will be held on tho same evening, one hour being devoted to each subject, and the respective teachers changing over after tlie lil'st hour. Thero will be 11 lessons in each term, and tho free .■.indents must, pi it in 10 hours each with .irithinelic anil English, otherwise they will be called upon to pay the full fees for each subject.
