Jessie lluy asked to ha\e water supply connected with her premises in (.irant-strect, as soon (us convenient.—To be informed that no funds are available, but. applicant to be allowed to connect at her own expense.
Thomas Stevenson asked for water connection from the head of JUirystreot to Mrs Stevenson's house in Aid wick-street. lie was willing to puy ;thc ;cost, provided the same would be deducted from rales. —To be informed ,that 110 funds are available.
John Jamie was |granted permission to erect a signboard in iront oi bis shop in Main-street. U\ S. Splatt, was also granted permission to erect signboard over the footpath, and under the verandah in Holland's Buildings; also electric energy.

Inder and Cochrane forwarded application for the sanitary connection of the Southland Frozen JVlcat Company's premises in Moclway-streei, and desired that it be executed ami returned.—Ci>. linker and Smith to sign document. Tile Yardman reported tliat the sulcyards required repairing, more especially the sheep pens. On last sale day there was a. lieu\ 4 \ yarding, and some, of the pens gave away and tile sheep got mixed. The pound and nattleyards also required -some repairs.—The Town Clerk reported that in company with the inspector of Works he had made \an inspection of the yards, and found they were in a ver\ had state, some rotten. A complete renewal of this part of the yard was necessary. There was still JLJL-1 Is Id unexpended, in addition to ..CSO debentures unsold. T.h.' •sheep yards were in fair order. If there was an accident the Council would be responsible.—The Keser\es Committee was instructed to report at next meeting of the Council. The Town Clerk reported that the wire for the alterations to the lighting system was nearly all to hand, and the only thing necessary to enable a start to bo made was the arrival of the poles from New South Wales. —deceived. The Town Clerk also reported that signboard in front of one of the business premises in. iMersey-street was recently torn down by a cart coming in contact with it. lie suggested that secure fastenings be insisted on by the Council. —The Inspector to make an inspection of signboards within the Borough, and report. The Finance Committee recommended that accounts amounting to Us id be passed for payment, and that various small amounts amounting to 7s id be written off the electric, light, accouut for ft he year.— Adopted. The Council adopted (the recoiniiueudation of the Works Committee—that Mr j.Jamu.s ileattie be grunted permission to drain into the Waikakai river, and that he be informed that j the Council cannot see its way to | construct a drain in Toronto-street.
