Mr IVppelweli pointed out that domains were given to the town for recreative purposes. Grounds had been given to tin* Bowling Club and also to the school. G rounds required for those purposes oi course were small as compared 1 o the area required for golf, but no special preparation was required. They only wanted turfed ground without long grass. Having a golf club in (.*ore in a measure was an attraction to other clubs lo visit the town. The planting of trees along the. banks of the river would in no way interfere with I he. playing of golf.
Mr McQueen said he wished to point out that the\ did not see their way to offer a larire rental for the ground us its suitabilii\ for goLf ! had yet to he proved. The Mayor and several councillors expressed themselves as being under the impression that golf links had been obtained elsewhere when they had recommended propping portion of the Domain. After some discussion the matter was referred to the Kesorvos Committee to consult with the Golf Club with power to act.
