An interesting legal point concerning the rights of idopted children under the Workers' Compensation for Accidents Act. was argued iu the Arbitration Court to-day. A man named Nevis ivns killed while working on the whan last year. He was employed by the Shaw, Savill and Aihion Company, who paid £4OO compensation into the hands of tho Public Trustee, The widow now .applied to have t.ho money paid over and tho Public Trustee sought tho Court's ruling as to whether an adopted child had any rights under the Compensation Act. His Honor said section 7 of the Adoption of Children Act made an ■.idopted chihl the child of the adopting parents for all purposes. Ho ordered the parties to communicate, with Mr.Nevis and ascertain whether sh" was agreeable to have portion of the money settled on the child.
