Farmers' Union, held at Hamilton Ibis afternoon, exhaustively considered the proposed dairy regulations. Air Allen Hell was in the chair, and thero were forty present, including Mr Clifton (Chief Inspector of Slock), Air Hell explained thu form of the regulations, which wore then tumidercd in detail, and a number ol deletions, additions, and modifications made. The following resolutions wero carried;—(a) "That before inspectors institute proceedings against dairymen, the latter should have the power to refer the matter to the Chief Stock Inspector before appearing at Court;" (h) "That before an Inspector makes his round of inspection of dairies, the dairy companies of the (District appoint two representatives to accompany him on bis inspection;" (c) "That farmers be granted free railway carriage vu material to be used in the construction of cowsheds or yards;" (d) "That in the case of leases, the Government be recommended to alter the law to protect the lessee for any perman.mt nl[leration made to comply with theieguhilions, such cost to bo bonio by the lessor, the tenant paying at least live -per cent, on the outlay during the remainder of his lease."
Air Clifton explained the proposed regulations from the Government point of view, and answered a number ol questions.
.Several speakers expressed the opinion that the regulations were necessary only in a more mocllified feu in. Further conferences will be held in different centres.
