♦- THE CLIMAROA'S MISHAP. PER UNITED PP.ESS ASSOCIA'I lON . CHIUSTCHCBCH, Feb. 01. The Huddart Parker I'o.'s large steamer L'Hmaroa. which grounded in Dunedin Harbor lust Saturday morning, and which was badly damaged, was docked at Lyltelton yesterday .•veiling. A survey of the vessel's oottom was held this morning. It is understood that tenders will be called at once and a contract, let ji'or the work of repairs. An inspection of the vessel in dock shows that, she has sustained .very serious damage through contact, with the rocks. The first dent shows under the, bottom of the vessel on the port side, about 00ft from the bow. The plates are badly dented and the rivets' are started. Going afl numerous bad dents can be seen, and then for about 120 ft or more the plates and frames are very seriously buckled and "set up." The damage sietns to be confined to the two rows of plates extending from the keel outwards for about 8 feet and fore and aft for well 'over ; .1.00 feet amidships. The , plates al the after end of the. damaged section are utdly cracked and water was streamug through in numerous placet. A number of Hie cracks were so bad that they had to be plugged at Port Chalmers by a diver with canvas and wood wedges. It is understood that the contract for repairs will involve the removal of is plates each about 22 feel in length. A FRUITLESS SEARCHCHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 21. The Kaikoura correspondent of the Press' telegraphed that the steamer Cygnet (Captain Murray) put into Kaikoura at 12.15 p.in. to-day, after ;i fruitless search for the derelict reported to have been seen off the Kui::oura Peninsula. The Cygnet spoke the Amokura and the Falcon, which had both been searching unsuccessfully, and Captain Murray was of opinion that the missing vessel had probably (Willed north through Cook Strait. '
