HOOLIGANISM AT POLITICAL MEETINGS. TO 'i'HK EDITOR. Sir,—l quite agree with your correspondent " Disgusted," who cried "Shame" on Mr McDougaU's behaviour at Mr Anderson's meeting. He might well ask, Do we live in Russia r There's always an excuse lor ignorance, but it's easy to see the ditterenco between those chat aro brought up and those that are dragged up. We all love British tair play, and, 1 aft, was it a fair thing for -ilr McDougall and his crowd to go to a respectable meeting and act like a gang ol Sydney hoodlums f The calm gentlemanly manner in which Mr Anderson met such conduct, sir, made us proud of him. Contrast such carryings-on with the previous night. Many differed with Mr McNab.. but wo gave him a fair Hearing and listened in respectful silence to all he had to say, and we can vote as we please on the 17th itut. You Know, sir, it's been truly said, "When you've no case abuse the other side," and Mr McDougall will find such tactics will not help iiis side at all. Hoping that Mr Anderson will go iu by a big majority on tho 17th inst.—l am, etc., RED, WHITE AND BLUE. Gore, November 9. DAIRY REGULATIONS. TO Till BDITOft. Sir,—Would- you kindly allow me ►.pace to protest against Regulation 8 (a) in the Dairy Regulations (600 cubic icct of space for each cow stalled overnight). Air Editor, I think a cow is far hettor with 300 cubic feet in a house than in a bleak, cold paddock all night in winter. I also think that a shed with 400 cubic feet of space per cow with plenty of ventilation is better thau IMH) feet without ventilation; therefore it is an unnecessary expense to (ho farmer. 1 also think that a cow requires more breathing space on a hot summer day, wheu milking, than any cow does on a cold winter night. There arc a great number of these regulations which are very hard on the farmer, but I leave them to somo abler pen than mine. It would be advisable if our candidates would read the Regulations it their meetings.—l am, etc., DAIRYMAN. THE MATAURA CONTEST. TO THE KDlTOtt. Dear Sir,—Having beard both candidates seeking the suffrages of the electors of Mataura, I have decided to support Mr G. J. Anderson this time, as I am mtr* a change is imperative for the welfare of the electorate. In .Mr Anderson we will have u conscientious, straightforward gentleman, and one who will be loyal to \\\h promises, and that is the most lit and proper person to represent Mataura electorate; I am thoroughly convinced, the inori» so after reading "Mr McNab on his defence," in the columns of the 'Otag.J Daily Times' of Saturday, November 7, a copy of which 1 would recommend all electors to read for themselves. I can assure those electors who do not know Mr Anderson personally, or have not had the pleasure of hearing his views, that he is a man of earnestness aud integrity, specially adapted for sound, clean, progressive legislation, which is essential to the country's welfare. I appeal to those in the country to hear Mr Anderson's views, if they have not already heard them, and 1 have no doubt as to the result of their deliberations on election day. To quote liis Worship x tbe Mayor's remarks, MrAnderson is a man who does what ho goes in for thoroughly.—l am, etc., "GULLED LONG ENOUGH."
