TIIK CONVICTION QUASH I'd). IVr Vniteil Press Association. WKI.UNGTON. June 11. At the Appeal Court this morning, the case Hex v. Searby. was considered. Searby had been convicted at Wanganni under section -J 12 of the Criminal Code Act, ls<.»:s. for alleging lie was a qualified medical practitioner. The Chief Justice and Mr Justice Chapman thought the conviction should be quashed and no new trial ordered. Justices Kdwnrds and Cooper agreed that the conviction could not stand, but expressed an opinion that a new trial should be ordered. Searby was unable to find bail and served his sentence of three months in gaol. and had long since -been discharged.
