MINING NOTES.

The l'aterson's Freehold Company's two dredges during the twelve months ended December 31 last were .successful ill winning gold to the value,of 12s, bringing the value of the output from date of registration in July, 1699, up to £20,517. The expenditure. over last year's output was £875-1 19s, and since registration £27,955 19a. The dividends declared during the latter period have amounted to .CiOOO. On December 31 there was cash at the banks to the amount of £313, and a sum of .COO on deposit. As against these amounts the company owned money to the extent of £2625. The W'aimnmu Gold Dredging Company, which was registered in November, 1897, with a capital of £7OOO, of which £6OOO has been subscribed during last year, succeeded in winning gold to the amount of 7850z Ifidwt. and of a value of- £29-10 9s (id, bringing the total gold production since registration up to (>3500z I lihvt, of a value of £2-1,702 1 lis tjd. The expenditure) over last year's output was £1750, and since registration £20,312 His 7d. Dividends declared during the company's existence have so far amounted to £3410 2s fid. The debts owing by the company on December 31 last totalled C 937. while the cash in the bank on the same date equalled £7 9s. The yearly .statement of the Waikaka United Gold Dredging Co. shows the concern to have been prosperous. The company was registered on Februa;y 11. J899, and shows the capital to be of which £'A7ol> has been .subscribed and paid up. The number of shareholders is 20. Since registration gold has been won to the value of £37,073, and £-11,9.") 1 has been expended in carrying on operations. Dividends to the amount of £10,920 have been paid—more than twice the original capital. There are 2fi shareholders. Since registration, gold to the value of £28,19(5 has been produced, and £3.">,999 has been expended in carrying on operations. £IBOO has been paid in dividends.
