WAIKAIA v. MANDEVILLIi. The Cup match (under the lias turn District Association rules J Alandeyiite v. Waikaia was played on (Saturday at Jiaudeville in beautitul weather, alld after a very enjoyable game and an exciting finish, the home team won, by the small margin of four runs Mandeville made b2 and 05, A. U. Bell (30 and 23), 11. Harraway (10), K Uoult (12), and G. Green (iU) oatting well for the winners. Waikaia compiled 38 and 105, Hutchinson i2s>), Stewart (2o), Mathesom (13 and 10), and Christie (12), being most conspicuous on the visiting side. In the bowling department, Christie 4 for 33 and 4 for 16, and Sproat 3 'or 1C and- 4 for 22, accounted for most of the wickets for Waikaia, as did A. G. Bell, 6 for 15 and 0 for 10, 11. Harraway 0 for 7 and 6 for 19, and J Beecot 3 for 1 and 2 for -J for Mandcville. 'lhe visitors thanked the home team for their hospitality during the day, which was much appreciated by ■ the players. WAIKOIKOI v. TATANUI. The return match between Waikoikoi and Tapanui was played on the former's ground on Saturday, ending in a win for_ the home team by 72 tuns. Tapanui in their first innings only made 2G', and in the second 50 (Robinson lti, Eakdale 12). Waikoikoi made 51 in their first venture (C. Reid 111) and in the second 105 (Murney 20, Kirk 17, Crawford 18, and J. Held 11 'not out). For the winners C. Reid gort six wickets for 21 runs, J. lit id live .for 23, and J . Murney seven for 32. For Tapanui Ferguson (.four or 32) was most successful. IiALCLUTHA v, GORE. The Gore Club sent a team to Bal4ytha yesterday to meet , the local ■lub, the visitors losing by nine wickts. Gore had lirst strike, but made i poor stand, being got rid of for ') (Gcddes Hi not out). Gurithorp '(oven wickets for 10 runs) bowled ejlly well for the home team, who nade 'lO in their (irst innings (Hislop 0. MeLanghlan 13, and Valentine •ind Bishop 11 each). Winslow (six or '2B) wfis the most successful of the !ore bowlers. Going in a second time lie visitors made a better stand and made 75 (Geddes 20 and Williams 20). 'urthorp again bowled well for Bal'■lutha and captured ..six wickets for 'ii runs." Balelutha made the necessary umber of runs to win for the loss >f oi'.c. wicl'et. A feature of each of lore's innings was the batting of !cddes, who gave a splendid display. . n the first innings lie scored 1(1 not ut. and iu the second had the mis 'irtune to be run out after making 0, and being well set. Williams also '"■atted nicely for 20. The fielding of he Gore team left room for mu:h miu-ovomont. The visitors Mere enertained splendidly by the home e'even and lady supporters of tlio coining team.
