SYDNEf MARKETS. Sidney, Jan. 15. At the Homebush sales to-day there were large supplies of stock, and values were lower. Crossbred wethers, best, 15s 6d—extra, 17s; good, 13s 6d to 14s 6d; medium, 10s; ewes, best, 14s—extra, 18s 3d; good, 12s 6d to 13s 6d; medium, 9s 6d. Bullocks, best, £l2 14s —extra, £l3 12s 6d; good, £11; medium, £7 10s; cows, £9; good, £7 ss. Best beef is worth 30s to 33s per 1001b. CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE. The third of the season's wool sales opened at Christchuroh yesterday, when a record catalogue of nearly 20,000 bales was offered to a full attendance of buyers. iThe bidding was Bomewhat irregular, being brisk for merino and specially fine half-bred and quarterback; very keen for strong crossbrads and long wools, but languid for inferior and medium to good haifbreds. Competition for pieces, locks and oddments was rather slow and erratic, except for lots wanted by colonial mills, which brought very full rates. Compared with the December sales merino was firmer; fine haifbreds without change; good medium and inferior halfbred Ad to Jd lower; long wools and crossbredß, especially showy sorts, marked a distinct' advance of Jd to ljd per lb. The following was the range of prioesSuperior merino lOd to lljd, medium 9d to lOd, inferior 7d to 9d; halfbred, superior 8d to 9§d, medium 7d to Bd, inferior sfd to 6Jd; crossbred, superior 6d to 7d, medium and inferior 4d to 5Jd; long wool, superior 5d to 6Jd, inferior 4|d to 16d; pieces and bellies, good 5Jd to 6fd, inferior 2§d to 4|d, locks 7d to B£d.

SPECIAL CATTLE SALE. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. report as follows : We held a most successful special sale of cattle at Wyndham yesterday, and offered 360 head of cattle, all of which we sold with the exception of one small lot. The attendance was large, and the bidding throughout was keen, any good lines selling well. The following is a detailed list of the prices obtained for the principal lines soldso 3 and 4yr-old bullocks, £8; 30 2 and 3yrold steers, £6; 20 2syr-old steers, £5 ss; 40 ljyr-old steers and heifers, £3 12s (id; 15 2vr-old steers, £4 2s; 29 2yr-old steers and heifers, £4 2s tid; 45 ljyr-old steers and heifers, £3 15s ; 45 lyr-old steers and heifers, 12 fat cows, £6; 1 fat heifer, very prime, brought £8 2s 6d ; 6 fat cows, £6 3s ; 18 2 and 3yr-old heifers, dry, £4 2s; 21 yearling steers and heifers at £2 14s; and other small lines at satisfactory prices. There were a few buyers from Canterbury, but the prices were too high for them to operate. The bulk of the entry consisted of young cattle, whereas buyers would have preferred forward bullocks, which would have readily found purchasers had they beep there for sale.
