OUR VOLUNTEERS.

GORE RIFLES. The annual social of the Gore Killos, was held at the Town Hall last evening, and proved a most enjoyable function. Owing in a great measure to the inclemency of the weather, the attendance fell short of former years, but notwithstanding, some 35 couples took part in the dancing, which was successfully carried out under the M.C.-r.liip of lMv. Chas. R. Irnjiam. The hall wns gaily drcorated with Hags, etc., and looked very prrt'y. Excellent music «".s p nvideit \r- Mrs Godby, Messrs Hubener and Taylor, and the catering being in the hands of Mr T. Lock was a guarantee of satisfaction.

Advantage was taken to present Sergeant Calder, who is leaving Gore, with a handsome gold pendant as a mark of the esteem in which he was held by the officers and men of the corps. Captain Boyne m-ide fluttering reference to the excellent work done by Sergt. Calder during his connection with the corps, and referred especially to the nttemion he had paid to his duties as stores officer, a post he had filled in a manner impossible to be improved upon. Sergt. Calder was a most promising non-commissioned officer, and they were sorry to lose him, but at the same time wished him every success, and trua'ed he would still continue to take an active part in volunteering.—Sergt. Calder made a suitable reply. Captain Boyne also presented Private B. Turnbiill with the medal presented by Surg.Capt. Copland for the best third class shot in the corps.
