Speaking generally, lam in the happy position of being able to report that the pupils have acquitted themselves creditably at the examination. The second rale or third-rate work that usually falls to be chronicled when there has been a change of teacheis during the year is absent. 'The' inference is plain : tho teachers, both the outgoing and the incoming, have done their work loyally and well. One matter which really lies at the root of all progress in English studies—l refer to the comprehension of the language of the reading lessons—may advantageously bulk somewhat moie laigely in the programme of studies.
