AHSWEB TO COBEESPONDENT. /&.3.V.— Thursday's issue. Journalists throughout the colony (says the ' Free Lance') have head with regret of the laying by of an old comrade, Whiteley King, who has been in hospital in Sydney for some weeks seriously ill. Mr King was well known in Wellington particularly, and the colony generally, some years back, and his was a familiar face in the Press Gallery in session time. He went over to Australia, and, at the time of the great strike period, he became secretary of that most powerful organisation, the Pastoralists' Union of New South Wales. As an organiser he proved highly successful, and took a prominent part in the strike struggles with the shearers of Australia something like a decade ago. He then, with two other New Zealanders—one of whom was Mr B. E. N. Twopenny, ex-editor of the ' Otago Daily Times ' —came into possession of the ' Pastoralists' Beview,' which was languishing, and, in a few years, built it up until to-day it stands as one of the most prosperous publications in the Commonwealth. Mr Whitley King is a brother of Mr T. T.
