No more pertect weather for a sports gathering could have been desired than that in which the Gore Cycling Club's meeting was held at the Caledonian grounds yesterday. The attendance was fairly satisfactory, numbering as it did betwoon 400 and 500. The arrangements for the afternoon were excellently planned and carried out, enabling the prograrnmo to be got through in good timo. The cycling track was in fairly good order, but the appearance of the ground, fences, and premises generally bespoke a large amount of wanton mischief having been perpetrated recently to the detriment of the Caledonian Society's visible assets. The Gore Brass Band (under Mr Mayo) was in attendance, and produced sweet strains at frequent intervals. The cycle racing as a whole was good, the interest of this being augmented by tho presence of such notable performers as Sutherland, Barker, and Holland. All the events attracted large fields, and the only regiettable feature was the frequency of spills, no fewer than four of the>c occurring, none of them, happily, resulting seriously. The various ollicers are to be commended for their share in bringing about the success of the meeting, Mr A. Cuff, as secretary, shouldering tho bulk of the burden, ltesults :—■
