Leave of absence was granted to Mr Lee Smith for a fortnight owing to illness in his family.
The Animals Protection Bill was committed. Several clauses gave rise to controversy, especially the section providing for a license to kill native game. Progress was reported at clause 20, and leave given to sit again.
Mr Jennings gave notive to move that in view of the grave danger attaching to the use of impure lymph the Government should take steps to ensure that calf lymph only be used for vaccination ; that the appointment of all public vaccinators be revoked, so as to secure the appointment of only the men best fitted for the positions.
.The third reading of the Unclaimed Moneys Bill was moved by the Minister of Education, who explained that though he desired to see the bill pass in its present form the question of whether Government departments, such as the Post Office Savings Bankand'Government Insurance Department, .should be included within the scope ol the measure, was being considered by the Cabinet.- -The debate was adjourned on the ujotioij of Mr (Olivier to permit of the second and third clauses' being redrafted.
